Create your own Hiking Dashboard!
I created a hiking dashboard after looking through my hiking data, and thought it would be interesting to compare all the hikes I have ever done.
By-the-numbers look at hikes I’ve tracked with Garmin. (This isn’t all of the hikes I ever done, it is just hikes that I used my Garmin watch.) Guide stats come from WTA and The Mountaineers; GPS is moving time from my watch. For the full trail-by-trail directory, see Hikes I’ve Done.
My Hiking Dashboard
Dashboard hosted on GitHub Pages. Stats refresh when hike data is updated.
How to export hiking data from Garmin Connect
Live guide: https://alyssacaples.github.io/hike-dashboard/garmin-export/
Analyzer: https://alyssacaples.github.io/hike-dashboard/analyzer/
Quick steps
- Open Garmin Connect in a web browser (the phone app does not export a full activity CSV).
- Go to Activities.
- Optional: filter to Hiking before you export.
- Choose Export → Export to CSV and download the file.
- Open the Garmin hike analyzer and drop the CSV on the upload area.
Analyzer checkbox
- Filtered to hiking before export? Leave Hiking activities only checked (default).
- Exported all activity types? Still leave it checked — the analyzer filters to hiking for you.
Privacy
